According to a study from the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, cited in the New York Daily News, more and more seniors–eight out of 10 Americans over age 50– believe they’ll need to earn money in retirement. Of course, whether they’ll be able to find work is another question. “The people more likely to push off retirement [until at least the age of 66] include those with an annual salary less than $50,000, minorities, parents of younger children and those without health insurance.”
Social security, of course, is always a help, but for nearly 60 million who receive benefits, the annual cost of living adjustment (COLA) projected for 2014—about 1.5%–is one of the smallest in history, according to an AP analysis.
